How To Get More Sales By Improving Your Writing (Part 2)

In our last post, we talked about how to write your first ad from scratch. If you haven't seen the post click this link and check it out.

So now that you understand how to write content for your ad. It's time to make the reader breeze through your content and enjoy it.

When we get the reader hooked from our first sentence, it's our job to keep them there and not lose their attention.

So how do we do that?

I like to use this test called "The Bar Test".

The bar test is simple.

You look at your piece of writing (or 'copy' as we like to call it) and you ask yourself.

"Would I say this to an actual human being".

This works every single time and I'll tell you why.

Read this paragraph:

"A businessman makes money by identifying opportunities, solving problems, and leveraging resources to create value. Whether through selling products, offering services, or investing in assets, he focuses on generating revenue while keeping expenses low to maximize profits. Successful businessmen understand market demand, build strong networks, and use strategic marketing to attract customers. They also reinvest earnings into business growth, whether by expanding operations, improving efficiency, or diversifying income streams. Ultimately, making money as a businessman requires a combination of vision, financial acumen, and the ability to adapt to changing market conditions."

Now if you got through all of that congratulations. I got this from ChatGPT and I didn't even read through all of it.

The reason why it's bad is because you could not say this to a person at a bar.

It sounds like your a computer (ironic isn't it).

I see so many marketing gurus saying to use AI to sound professional and smart in your ads. But in reality, it doesn't work at all because people can smell the fakeness (if that's a word).

So if you use the bar test, it makes the reader connect with what you are saying as you have made it sound like you are talking to them in real life.

And that is the goal we want in our ads.

So I urge you to use the bar test when writing not just ads, but any content creation.

Talk soon,

Dylan.
